System Setup
The Attalus Fiber System® is a proven, commercial system. The main components that make up the system include the Attalus Sensors, Attalus Communication Adaptor, and the Attalus Information Server.
Attalus Sensors
The
Attalus Sensors are installed as close to the winder as possible.
This location is favored such that the sensor can monitor as many
fiber and machine properties as possible. Since there is only one
sensor per end, there is minimal disruption to the thread path and
break angles. Data from the sensor is sent through a DeviceNet
network to the Attalus Communication Adaptor.
Attalus Communication Adaptor (ACA)
The main purpose of the ACA is to manage and buffer the data to ensure
data integrity. The ACA also consists of input and output to communicate
to plant devices. An example of an input signal would be a winder
signal from the position. An example of an output signal would be
a signal to the positional cutter to stop the line based on a fault.
Data from the ACA is transferred through an Ethernet connection to
the Attalus Information Server.
Attalus Information Server
The Attalus Information Server processes the sensor data into fault
and package information. This product and process information is then
sent to two main software packages - PlantView
and Reporter - for
analysis, alarming, and reporting.
Managing Remotely
The Attalus System provides for remote monitoring capabilities. The Attalus Information Server also acts as a web server. This provides users with the capability of monitoring production remotely be it from a location in the United States or from a location in Taiwan. Additional software does not have to be installed and all the user requires is an internet connection and a password.
Installation
Depending on the size of the installation, the INSTRUMAR team, working with the team from the manufacturing facility, can have the system installed with information flowing anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
